Leonard Butts

Leonard Larue Butts, 70, passed away at his home on August 7, 2026. He was born on March 3, 1956, and was the son of the late Russel Edward and Ileta Dean Butts.

Larue graduated from Greenbrier East High School in 1974 and then attended Marshall University.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Larue was a talented man in many ways. He was a great wallpaper hanger, woodworker, musician and golfer.

He is survived by his wife, Yang Hee (Chong) Butts and their daughter, Ileta Chong Patton (Jeremy), and grandsons, Ezra and Elijah all of Honolulu, Hawaii.

He is also survived by his sisters, Beverly “Dee” Loomis (Wayne) of Moneta, Virginia and Tia Marshall (Peter) of Randleman, North Carolina along with a niece and several nephews.

He will be missed by his special dog, Oakey.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
