Lee Anna Sowder (Workman), age 75, passed away on September 13, 2026 in Charleston, West Virginia. She was born on February 27, 1951, in Oak Hill, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Dennis “Speck” Workman and Alma Workman. She graduated from Ansted High School, West Virginia Tech and West Virginia College of Graduate Studies.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jim Sowder of 56 years, her son James Sowder (Cindy), her daughter Jessica Bowling (Casey), by her 7 grandchildren Jacob, Victoria, Katie, Abby, Emma, Michael, and Chloe and by her 2 great grandchildren Christopher and Rae-Lee. She is also survived by her brother Mark Workman (Shewana); several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Lee had a long career as a local school teacher mostly in Ansted, WV, where she touched many lives. She was always thinking of and caring for others, especially her family, who she always made sure their bellies and hearts were full. She was always ready with a great smile and a hug for anyone especially her grandkids and great grandkids. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her.
The family is planning to do a celebration of life service at a later date, open to everyone that wants to remember and celebrate this wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher and friend to all who knew her.
