Catherine Sue Alder

Catherine Sue “Cathy” Alder, 69, of Ronceverte, WV, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at Peyton Hospice House, surrounded by her family.

Born April 25, 1957 at York, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Robert Amberman and Dorothy June Gemmill Bacon. She was also preceded in death by her step-father Terry Bacon.

Cathy graduated from Red Lion Senior High School in Pennsylvania; was formerly employed by Greenbrier Valley Hospital in the dietary department; was a retired secretary with Greenbrier Veterinary Hospital and was a cashier for Walmart in Lewisburg.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband of 50 years, Billy Dale Alder; two sons, Michael (Chrissy) Alder of Ronceverte and Brian (Angel) Alder of Frankford; her beloved grandchildren, Cody, Lacey, Courtney (Zach), Hunter, and Mikhail (Summer); also surviving are her siblings, Randal Amberman (Chris) of New Mexico, Karen Gross (Ken) of Felton, PA, Lori Topper of York, PA, Cheri Reed (John) of Brogue, PA and Eric Bacon (Sally) of Brogue, PA. Cathy also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who dearly loved her.

Cathy had a knack for cooking and often spent many hours in the kitchen cooking meals for her family. She loved the outdoors and loved watching wildlife in her back yard. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She thoroughly loved her granddaughter, Lacey and their time spent together.

Per her wishes Cathy will be cremated and a family gathering to honor her life will be held at a later date.
