Brenda Kuykendall

Brenda Joyce Brunty Kuykendall, 84, of Rainelle, West Virginia, and a long-term resident of Providence Forge, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2026.

Brenda was born on January 1, 1942, in Clintonville, West Virginia, and grew up in Greenbrier County, where she spent most of her childhood. She devoted 48 years of her life to the nursing field, a career that reflected her compassion, dedication, and lifelong commitment to caring for others.

Outside of her work, Brenda found joy in cooking, crocheting, listening to music, and being of help and service to others—simple pleasures that reflected her generous heart and love for family, friends, and community.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Brunty and Callie Evans Brunty; her children, Michael Woodrum and Billy Woodrum; and her sister, Carolyn Brunty Campbell.

Brenda is survived by her children, Ricky (Debbie) Woodrum, Barbara Ellen Woodrum, Vanessa Kuykendall, Tina Kuykendall, Fred Kuykendall, Kathy Kuykendall Owens, and Brian Kuykendall (Jennifer Ferrell); her siblings, Jimmy Brunty, Bobby (Kathy) Brunty, David Brunty, Denver (Linda Lou) Brunty, Clarence Brunty, and Linda Brunty Tincher; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her long-term companion, Charles “Charlie” Starcher.

Service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Rainelle with Evangelist Ricky Hamrick officiating.  Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may gather with the family  from 12:00 until time of service at the funeral home.
