Harry “Junie” Gum, Jr.

Harry “Junie” Preston Gum Jr., 81, passed away Friday, Aug 28 2026 at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Cass WV.

He was the owner of Whittaker Campground at Cass, he was a correctional officer at Huttonsville Correctional Facility, worked at Cass Scenic Railroad, and was an ambulance driver for Cass Fire Station for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Gum Sr. and Leabelle (Pennington) Gum and several half brothers and sisters. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, David Wayne Cassell, II.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bonnie (Foe) Gum; a daughter, Lorie (Dave) Cassell of Waveland, MS; three sons, Brian Gum of Marlinton, Harry Gum, III of Cass and Jason (Devan) Gum of Dunmore; two brothers, Norman Winans of Virginia and Rick Gum of Cass; five grandkids and 3 great grandkids.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel at Arbovale, WV with Pastor Amy Paul officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the Arbovale Cemetery.

A visitation will be from 12:00 noon until time of the service at the funeral home on Tuesday.
