Verna Sheppard

Verna Marie Sheppard, 63, of Lewisburg, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg.

Born June 12, 1963 at Ronceverte, she was a daughter of the late John Walter and Polly Mae Payne Sheppard.

Verna loved her grandchildren and loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed watching birds and loved thunderstorms.

She is survived by her children, Leah Harris (Keith) of Brodnax, Virginia, Samantha Dorsey of Lewisburg, WV and John Sheffield (Heather) of Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren, Megan Harris (Colin), Chelsea Harris, Jayden Dorsey, Georgia Sheffield, Delilah Sheffield, Athena Sheffield, MacKenzie Sheffield and Jonah “Bugg” Dorsey; a sister, Sue Taylor and Brother, Billy Rudd and numerous other brothers, sisters nieces and nephews. She also leaves her life partner, Curtis Hinkle of Summersville, WV.

Per her wishes her body will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
