Richard “Richie Rich” Small

Richard Allen “Richie Rich” Small, 63 of Lansing, WV passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026

at the Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV.

Born on August 21, 1962 at San Diego California Naval Hospital, he was the son

of the late Billy Joe “Sonny” and Doris Pennington Small.

Richie was a heavy equipment operator in the US Navy Sea Bees. He loved the

Lord and loved his country. Richie was a raft guide and worked in the rafting

industry for many years.

Left to cherish many wonderful memories include his sister, Kathy Sue Hayes (Kenny),

of Hico, WV, and one brother Billy Joe Small (Becky) of Port St. Lucie, Fl., nephew,

Carl Ray Hayes, three nieces, Stephanie Raine, Jennifer Martelli and Stephanie Shuff.

Also several great nieces, great nephews and other extended family.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, 2:00 P.M. at Wallace & Wallace Chapel in

Ansted, with Rev. Kenny Hayes officiating.

Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery at Graydon, WV.

Everyone is invited to come and celebrate the life of Richie on Friday from 1:00 P.M until

time of service.
