Joanne Underwood

Heaven became a little brighter as Joanne Underwood, 68, of Ansted, completed her

earthly journey. She was greeted at the gates by her loving husband Robert “Stanley”

Underwood Jr. Joanne was born November 8, 1957 and transitioned on May 20, 2026, at home

with family and friends by her side. Joanne was the loving daughter of Nelson and Thelma

(Morris) Lanham.

Joanne and Stanley had two loving children, Stanley Brian (Brittney) Underwood and

Robert Lanham. She was also the very proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Markus

(Brittany) Williamson, Tessa Lanham and Wyatt Lanham, Shawn (Haylie) Underwood, Dalton

(Halie) Underwood, Alexis Underwood, Lochlyn-Breanna Underwood, and her namesake,

Kensingtyn “Kensi Jo” Underwood. Jo also found Joy with her seven great-grandchildren:

Tanner, Asher, Ava Williamson, Kinsley, Kason Underwood, Myles Underwood, and Raylie

Underwood.

Jo had many caring brothers and sisters as follows: Michael (Brenda) Lanham, Dianna

(Mitch) Carte, Elaine (Ed) Tyree, Eugene (Debbie) Lanham, Roger (Lorena) Lanham, Darnell

“Peachy” Lanham, Gary Lanham, Dana Lanham.

Joanne had a very special dear friend of 40 years, Mary Kincaid, and her two children,

Melissa White and Tammy Ben-Efraim. Together, these two friends opened a cleaning business

that they ran for almost 40 years. They shared a friendship that was as rare as they were and truly

loved each other.

Joanne was a pure soul, and you could trust that she would do anything to help anyone in

need. Her grandbabies were her entire existence, and would always find joy in being active with

them when they visited. A Celebration of Life for Joanne will take place on June 13, 2026

beginning at 1:00 p.m. for family members. Friends will be received at 2:00 p.m. With Michael

Lanham officiating services at 3:00 p.m. The location of the celebration of life will be located at

the Ansted VFW with the address of 19957 Midland Trail, Ansted Wv, 25812.

The family would also like to extend their appreciation for all who donated, brought food,

and gave their condolences.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Wallace & Wallace

Funeral Home for services rendered.

Joanne will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her and the world

will never be the same without her. Rest Easy Momma.
