Carolyn Redden

Carolyn Sue Redden, 68, of Layland passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2026 at Raleigh General Hospital.

She was born on May 13, 1957 at Beckley; she was the daughter of the late Herbert Cleveland Bragg and Bonnie Mae Raines Bragg.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Linda McClanahan and Bonnie Ennis; brothers, Michael Bragg, Matthew Bragg and Johnny Bragg.

Carolyn was a loving mother and grandmother, she was the strongest person we knew. She was smart, loving, caring and giving. She never asked for help but always was the one to give it. We have comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain. She will forever live in our hearts.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Rhonda Kessler (Joe) of Layland, Renee Redden- Molake (Adam) of Columbia, MD; sisters, Audrey Garten of Layland, Patricia McBride of Coal City; brothers, Wade Bragg of Highland Mountain, Stephen Bragg of Layland, Robert Bragg of Layland; seven grandchildren, Cody Kessler, Tonya Redden, Yasmeen Molake, Nadirah Molake, Jannah Molake, Keon Molake and Jabril Molake; four great grandchildren, Mason Redden, Maverick Redden, Cameron Kessler and Miyumi Molake-Loyola; extended family and friends.

Per her request, she will be cremated and no services.
