Ruby Sorrells

Ruby Parker Sorrells, 100 years of age, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning, February 18, 2026 at Rainelle Healthcare Center.

She was born on April 8, 1925 at Landisburg, WV; she was the daughter of the late Jeremiah Grigg Lester and Oradella Parker Genter Lester.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earnest William Sorrells in 1986; daughter, Sandra K. Sorrells; son, William Allen Sorrells; 2 great grandsons, Carter Jacob Ward and Justin Claypool; sisters, Gertrude Lester, Pearl Jones, Agnes Berry, Mary Thomas, Virginia Gunnoe and Lenna Halstead; brothers, Henry Lester, Earl Lester, Everette Lester, Lawrence Lester and Gordon Lester.

Ruby was a member of Danese Holiness Church and originally the Zickafoose Memorial Church. She enjoyed planting flowers, cooking, canning and she loves to sing in church.

Those left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Vickie Claypool (Jimmy) and Sharon Ward (David) ; son, Earnest W. Sorrells, Jr (Sandy); several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; 2 granddaughters whom she raised, Shemica Ward and Amanda Sorrells (fiancée Steffan); and extended family.

Service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Wallace & Wallace, Rainelle with Pastor Greg Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Visitation will be from 1:00 until time of service at the funeral chapel
