Eula Hypes- Ewing

Eula Ann Hypes-Ewing, 91, passed away on October 3, 2026 with family by her side. She will be dearly missed and forever held close in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

She was born June 16, 1935 in Victor, WV to William Stanley Hypes, Sr. and Katherine Hope Ruloff. She married Edgar Lee Ewing, Sr on April 17, 1954 in Nallen, WV.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Juanita Carte, Mary Robertson, Helen Headlee, and brother Lowell Hypes.

She is survived by sons Eddie Ewing (Sherry) of Hico and Greg Ewing (Mixis) of Bristow, VA, daughter Terry Nutter (Danny) of Victor, grandchildren Gregory Ewing (Kati) of VA, Klayton Ewing (Bethany Kasbohm) of VA, Eddie Lee Ewing (Carah Hubbard) of Beckley, William “Bill” Rose of DE, and Jamie Davis of Charleston, great grandchildren Juliet Zimmerman, River, Christian, Sicily, and Aerinys, great great grandchild Weston, and brother Buzz Hypes (Anna) of Craigsville.

She was a graduate from Glenville State College and West Virginia College of Graduate Studies. A lifelong devoted school teacher who started her career teaching in a one room school house at Sugar Creek, Fayette County, WV. During her career she also taught in Delaware and Prince William County, VA, returning to WV to retire from Ansted Middle School. She substituted for a few additional years. After retirement she was an advocate to bring public water service to residents of Fayette County, WV and eventually served as a member of New Haven Public Service District until 2023. She was initiated into The Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 134 in January 1960. She was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church and spent many years teaching youth in Sunday school.

Eula’s service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, Ansted, WV with Pastor David Harper officiating. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. The burial will follow in Restlawn Memory Gardens at Victor.
