Jeanette Burgess

Jeanette R. Smith Burgess, 61, of Neola, WV, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Although she had multiple health issues and scheduled surgeries, she passed away unexpectedly.

Born February 21, 1965 at Beckley, WV, she was a daughter of Hattie Tabor Smith of Prince, WV and the late Gilbert Smith.

She enjoyed her flowers and talking about her granddaughter.

In addition to her dad she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and Russell Smith and a sister, Ieva Wheeler.

Those left to cherish her memories, other than her mother, include her husband, Michael Burgess of Neola, WV; a daughter, Kristi Gable of Asheville, NC; four step-sons, Shane, Sean, Randall and Cody Burgess; brothers, Joseph Smith (Wilma) of Prince, WV, Rev. Jesse Smith (Sarita) of Ansted, WV, and Quinton Smith (Michelle) of Prince, WV; her sister, Kimberly Johnston (Shawn) of Prince, WV; her dearly beloved granddaughter, Lyric of Asheville, NC; several step-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Per her wishes her body will be cremated.

A memorial service will be 1:00 pm Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the Beaver Church of God, 123 Third Street, Beaver, WV, with Rev. Jesse Smith Officiating.
