Shirley McMann Parkins

Shirley Ann McMann Parkins, 82, of Ansted passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2026 at her home.

Born on November 7, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Leo A. McMann and Beatrice Hizer McMann.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Freddie Ray Parkins; daughters Carla Ann Parkins Bowles and Cheryl Renee Parkins Bargo; 4 sisters Janet Pritt, Wanda O’Dell, Betty Nutter and Nadine Keener Guilliams; a brother Leo Gerald McMann.

Shirley was a member of New Beginning Apostolic Church in Minden. She was a devout Christian who loved the Lord and enjoyed singing and playing her guitar. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 57 years before his passing in 2022, Mother, Grandmother and Sister. She will be forever loved and missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Freddie Ray Parkins Jr. and wife Beckey of Kopperston; daughter, Charlotte Kay Parkins Evans and husband Shawn of Ansted; special son-in-law Jimmy Bargo and wife Julie of Bridgeport; 9 grandchildren ,Jessica Thomas of Oceana, Ashley and JD Earnest of Alabama, Andrea and Shane Thomas of Oak Hill, Dustyn and Ashley Evans, Jarrod and Alexis Evans both of Hickory, NC; Destaney Bargo, Bella Bargo, Braylee and Bristol Parkins of Kopperston; 12 great grandchildren Brooklyn, Brantley, Riley, Mason, Skylar, Tucker, Marshall, Miley, Ashton. Grayson, Madisyn and Wynter; sister, Elma Lou McMann Nutter; sister-in-law,  Alma Jean McMann; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2026 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Chapel, Ansted with Pastor Shawn Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends may gather with the family from 11:30 until time of service at the funeral home.
