Sarah Rader Wright

Sarah Mae Rader Wright, 85, of Quinwood, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.

She was born on October 17, 1940; she was the daughter of the late James Okey and Cora Ottie McMillion Rader.

Sarah was a member of the Quinwood United Methodist Church where she often played piano. She graduated from Crichton in 1958 and began doing hair in 1960. She continued doing hair for over 50 years, where her customers became family. She was always grateful that they had “put a roof over our heads, food on our table, and shoes on our feet.” In her spare time, she enjoyed doing puzzles. She had a lasting and caring impact on the Quinwood community and everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Bernard Wayne Rader, James Roy Rader and John Berlin Rader; sisters, Bernice Helen Fullen and Jo Ann Rader, and a granddaughter Samantha Wright.

Surviving are her loving husband, Willard “Gene” Wright of Quinwood; son, Christopher “Chad” Wright of South Carolina; two daughters, Christine “Nikki” (Tony) Critchley of Danese, Christen (Sam) Robertson of Burnsville, NC; grandchildren, Jessica (Jackson) Lee, Brook Robertson, Grace (Nate) Neville, Jennifer (Robert) Amick, Mark (Toshia) Critchley, Brian (Crystal) Critchley and Little Tony (Taylor) Critchley; several great grandchildren; special cousin, Becky Eisenman who she dearly loved; several nieces and nephews who held a lifelong special place in her heart, as well as many extended family and friends.

Service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Wallace & Wallace Chapel, Rainelle with Pastor Gary Claypool and Pastor Gary Eisenman officiating. Burial will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Visitation will be Saturday evening June 27, 2026 from 6-8 p.m.
