Bernice Lou Murdock, of Lewisburg, WV, passed away early Saturday morning, May 23, 2026 at Allegheny Center Hospital in Low Moor, VA following a short illness.
Born November 15, 1943, in Crawley, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late George F. and Evelyn N. Suttle Walkup. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Elvin Leroy Mace, in 2001; sisters, Ruby Jones and her husband, B.L. “Dick” Jones, Hazel McIntire and her husband, Albert Paul McIntire, Edna Knicely Withrow, and Madge Walkup; and a brother, Delford Walkup.
Bernice served in the Army Reserves, and was a bus driver for Greenbrier County Schools for many years. She was a member of Beaver Creek Baptist Church of Keiffer.
Bernice loved to spend time with her family, as well as occasionally cooking.
Survivors include her husband, Hobert Lee Murdock of Lewisburg; her sister, Georgia Scruggs and husband Howard of Hines; a daughter, Jeannie Bennett & significant other Gary Cutlip of Maxwelton; grandchildren, Jeannie “L.J.” Steed and her husband Andrew “A.J.” of White Sulphur Springs, and Daniel Morris and wife Emily of Beckley; great-grandchildren include Savannah and Colten Harmon of White Sulphur Springs, Danny “L.D.” Morris of Rainelle, and Logan Carr and Riley Morris of Rupert; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Rainelle, with Pastor Gary Eisenman officiating. Interment will follow at Wallace Memorial Cemetery in Clintonville.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
