Lonnie Fernatt

Lonnie Lonzo “Jitterbug” Fernatt, 81, of Meadow Bridge passed away on Monday evening, May 18, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on August 13, 1944 at Rainelle; he was the son of the late Lonsford Ellis Fernatt and Glenna Mae Bowles Fernatt.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Carla Jane Fernatt.

Lonnie was an Army veteran and retired CSX welder. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage, sitting on his porch watching the birds and caring for his immaculate lawn. A former boxer, bowler and military marksman. He mostly enjoyed spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Jane Ellen Berry Fernatt; daughters, Deborah (Dale) Martin of Meadow Bridge and Angela (Terry) Long of Morgantown; son, Lonnie (Kristi) Fernatt of Meadow Bridge; 3 grandchildren, Whitney Newkirk, Nicole Roach and Laura Long; 1 great grandchild, Azula Roach.

Service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday at Patton Hill Cemetery, Meadow Bridge.
