The spirit of Mary Jane Allison Elliott was released from its mortal vessel on March 6th 2026 after a long illness.
Mary Jane was born to Curtis and Charlene Allison in Covington, Virginia and grew up in Sweet Springs, West Virginia where she graduated high school from Gap Mills. She later attended Morris Harvey College where she received her Bachelor’s Degree and later attended West Virginia University Law School. Mary Jane found her love of service working for Job Corps and for the West Virginia Research and Training Center in the area of Staff Development. Later she would find herself drawn once again to social services when she worked for the Women’s Refuge Center, a cause dear to her heart. Her love of art and the humanities followed her to Lewisburg, West Virginia upon retirement as she did many things from working in a local gallery to volunteering with the Greenbrier Valley Theater.
Mary Jane will be remembered for her adventurous spirit and her life-long voracious appetite for knowledge and books of all kinds.
Mary Jane is survived by her sister Margaret “Mickey” Allison Given, her Niece Erika Trader and her husband Ed, and though she never had children of her own, she doted on her Grandnephew Evan and Grandniece Eden Trader, both of whom will miss her very much.
It was Mary Jane’s wishes to be cremated with no services.
